Notes:
I am sending in three more photos per your request. Thank you! The leaf looks like it could be native, but with without more information, I could only speculate. Could you show the plantÕs side view and close-up of its branches without those ground covers in a new post? Hopefully we could help to narrow down its ID for you. Best wishes!

Thanks for these photos Sheryl! There are two native plant genera with similar looking leaves like yours, one is of the Tupelo (Nyssa genus species include N. aquatica, N. biflora, N. ogeche and N. sylvatica) and the other is pawpaw (Asimina genus species include A. triloba and dwarf pawpaw A. parviflora). I’m guessing N. sylvatica or A. parviflora .I’m leaning toward N. sylvatica(?) Sorry, I can’t get closer to its ID without flowers. I’m include the link below to help you further. If both of these are not match, post again with photo of flowers. Best wishes! https://bwwellsassociation.wordpress.com/2014/07/03/hiding-in-plain-sight-the-dwarf-pawpaw-asimina-parviflora-part-2/
