Notes:
A friend of mine found hundreds of these in her yard after a rain. They are about the size of a marble, soft and gel filled. We have not been able to identify them and hope you can!

Puzzled by the replies, because this post does not have a photo whenever I have looked at it.

Those balls look like a reasonably new method of preventing potted plants from drying out. They are a water-absorbing organic polymer, produced as perfectly round balls, that can absorb about 35 times their weight in water and release it into the soil as needed. Pretty neat – when filled with water they look like perfectly clear glass marbles but soft to the touch. I would guess they were part of a potted plant that was dumped out, or someone had the polymeric balls and left them there.

Looks like small berries torn from a vine by the rain and wind.

I had something similar, but the “blob” was opaque and had a glowing…yes, glowing…center, similar to the glow of a firefly. I was able to scrape it off of the edging, but the blob was quite adhered and did not remove easily. I would love to know what yours and mine are/is.
