Notes:
Has thorns. It just started growing at my sons house after he moved in two months ago. Thinking it was not “planned” as it is really close to the edge of the flower bed.

Whoa, I’ll retract my entry. I missed the “Has Thorns”. And I don’t suppose it has yellow latex either! Members of the Poppy Family are characterized by their production of latex, which in the case of the Wood Poppy is yellow.

My wood poppies don’t have thorns. How about buffalobur? http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/2373/solanum-rostratum-buffalobur-nightshade/

Thank you, Jake, it certainly looks like it. I may have to get my son to spare this one for me.

I am taking a wild guess here but look at the images for “celandine poppy” below: https://www.google.com/search?q=celandine+poppy+pictures&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb and http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=m450 It grows wild here in Ohio, too.
