Notes:
These things have been living in our compost bins for a while. I thought they were fly larvae at first, but they’re pretty large now and don’t seem to be in any rush to continue with their metamorphosis. They have stayed inside the bins until today. Perhaps the heavy rains drove them out? The compost is, to the best of my knowledge, 100% vegetable matter with some egg shells thrown in. I recently added the remnants of our garden’s tomato plants.
