Notes:
This large leaf plant started growing in in front yard island in early April. It is almost 3 feet high and wide. The leaves are very large, thick and kind of “fuzzy.” The second picture shows a head about to bloom…

I’m with stone on that one, which is why I made the somewhat snarkly comment. I think it looks great there, but your opinion might differ.

Some of us grow mullien on purpose, other people like hortiphoto consider it a weed. It looks gorgeous in that large bare area, and I would be very happy with it. Once you start reading about mullien, you will discover that it has a variety of uses… from cowboy toilet paper, to a food/tea source, to asthmatic relief. Definitely a keeper!

If you like it where it is, it’s a flower. If not, it’s a weed… 😉

Looks like possibly a Verbascum. Some are weedy, others are cultivated. Yours looks like it could be Verbascum thapsus ( http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/img11024.htm ), in which case you may not want it in your garden. Wait till it flowers, though, as it may turn out to be one of the pink-flowered forms.
