haha i keep being told 3 to 4 feet high and die. but mine are like 10 feet tall and so far 3 years have not died out. have in a covered patio though. makes it all very jungle like. my flower looks exactly like the one in the pic but my leave are huge like a real elephant ear.

I live in Cumming, GA (Forsyth County) and I believe these are Canas (or Cannas). There are many, many different varities. They grow about 3 feet tall; have very large leaves, some of which are varigated and a new variety is even a dark maroon color. The flowers come in many colors and the flower shapes vary, too. Your picture seems to show the flowers about to bloom. Looks like a type of canna! The kinds I see around here and at the big box stores, usually have wider petals – you’re looks more delicate and exotic to me 🙂
