Notes:
This shrub is about 2 feet high . The long red flowers are not found in any of my wild flower books. Please tell me what it is.

Mine start blooming at shin high (2 foot), also… They eventually get 6+ feet high, and just as wide…

aesculus pavia or red buckeye. A delightful native shrub… There is also a yellow variety in the area, and… Apparently they can cross for a part yellow part red bloom. Only 2ft high? Is that really right or does it look like it might get larger? Apart from that it looks like Red Buckeye (Aesculus pavia [ http://www.photosbotanical.com/img955.htm ]).
