A friend has been given this plant as a gift. It had no details with it and is treating it as a house plant. I think is is of the Red Hot Poker family. Can you help Please? 🙂

Looks like Guzmania conifera (a bromeliad) to me.

This is not Kniphofia (Redhot poker). It appears to be a form of Bromeliad (and there are many). Go online and scroll through the various varieties; you may find it. Buck
