If it has a acorn with the cap like hair then it is a Brant’s Oak. Just discovered 2 giant ones, spoke to me real strong, due to never seeing anything like them in 63 yrs. the limbs grow perpendicular for a long way, originate at close spacing around the trunk and spaced like a white pine.

rpaul was correct. The first is Sawtooth Oak (Quercus acutissima)http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/a898/quercus-acutissima.aspx The second is a Red Maple (Acer rubrum) http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ACRU&photoID=acru_004_avp.tif

The only Oak leaf I could find that resembles the one in the first picture is from a Brants Oak (Quercus Brantii). I’m thinking it may be something different though. The website I found with details states that it is a very rare oak, and to me the leaves look a little different. Here’s the link: http://www.gardenaction.co.uk/trees/quercus/quercus-brantii-oak.asp Hopefully someone can provide more information, but that may help.
