Notes:
I’m fairly new to Georgia and have run across a plant that i never saw in Missouri. The pictured plant is growing on the west side of my house. It grows behind a row of azaleas. It also appears in an island azalea bed. It seems to grow as an indiviual stalk with a single leaf at the top. It reminds me of a miniature water lily leaf growing in the midst of pine straw mulch. The size of the leaf is about the size of an old silver dollar. It has not bloomed in the 3 years we’ve lived here.

‘@Margaret with dollar weed in Roses. Carefully apply Roundup to dollar weed leaves. That should take care of the dollarweed, roots, rhizomes and leaves. Carefully is the operative word here as Roundup will damage any green foliage it contacts. Round Up concentrate mixed at 3 oz per gallon will give better control than the premixed Lawn and Garden Roundup. I can already hear the Rose aficionados groaning! Ok, Ok. Option #2. Grub it out, roots and all.

So, it appears to be preferable to remove completely. I thank you all.

Hydrocotyle or marsh penny wort, dollar weed, a pain to have in the garden. Not to be confused with a very similar plant, dichondra, which is also common in this area. http://www.lsuagcenter.com/MCMS/RelatedFiles/%7B8BA21C30-4CD2-4AB7-BD24-4CAE6AD90CC8%7D/Dollarweed+control+information.pdf http://www.southeasternflora.com/view_flora.asp?plantid=1155#
