Notes:
I have seen this tall, thin, woodsy shrub very often around Atlanta. It is often used as a privacy screen for utility boxes or as a border between neighbors. It has green leaves that do not appear to be shiny. I have never seen fruit or flowers. It is very wirey and filled with branches. I would love to grow some of my own for a privacy screen but I have no idea what it is. Someone had suggested it might be a smooth leaf holly; it doesn’t look like any in the nurseries.

Unfortunately, having looked at the ligustrum in person and online, it still doesn’t appear to be what I have in the picture. I really am not sure- the landscape designer I showed it to seemed to think it was holly but none at the nursery looked like it either. Thank you, though, for the input. I’m really hoping I can figure this one out before I decide to plant something in its place.

This looks like a wax leaf ligustrum with pruners disease. This link show a closeup of the foliage. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/234302/ If we’re on the right track you may want to view this video regarding the wax leaf ligustrum. He waxes a little long but does address a common problem with the shrub, the dreaded pruners disease.
