Alumroot – Potted and Pretty
Q: On a recent radio show you mentioned a plant that goes well with autumn fern. It sounded like yureka or alaroot. Please clarify.
A: I was bragging on my heuchera plants, also known as alumroot. The leaves are very attractive, ranging in color from deep purple to golden caramel. It has wispy pink or white flowers in spring. Autumn fern is evergreen and loves the same semi-shade environment as heuchera. I’ve also had good success growing heuchera in pots.
