Q: My dahlias are so lazy, always laying around on the ground instead of standing up. Should I dig them up and plant them deeper?
A: Dahlia varieties vary greatly in size. Some grow small and compact but other, like yours, grow too tall to support themselves.
I’d simply push a three foot length of slender bamboo six inches into the soil beside each tuber when planted in spring.
Tie stems to the bamboo with soft cloth strips.
