Blueberry – Pallidum – Identified
Q: I can’t figure out what these plants are. The nursery knew it was some type of blueberry, but they weren’t sure. I would like to know a little more so I can figure out what they like and if I need multiple plants for best pollination.
These pictures are from the spring and summer. Now the leaves have turned dark red/purple. I ate a bunch of the fruit back in the summer and they were pretty tasty. These things are blanketing the ground through out the wooded sections of our yard. Is there anything I can do to make them happier.
A: Native plant expert Jim Rogers, www.nearlynativenursery.com, says you have Vaccinium pallidum, which would have had remarkable pink striped white flowers in spring.
