Bermudagrass- Seed
Q: I have a new home with a limited amount of bermudagrass sod. I threw out bermudagrass seed in the other parts of my yard. I’ve heard this was not a good idea. Can you explain why not?
A: The problem is that the color of your seeded bermudagrass will not match the color of your sodded grass. Under full sunshine, the seeded area will appear gray-green and the sodded area will be dark green. In addition, the seeded grass will send up seedheads almost overnight, making it less attractive. At this point the best you can do is to resign yourself to a paisley effect for a couple of years. I think the seeded bermudagrass will eventually dominate and, if you mow regularly, it won’t look half bad.
